Crowley, born Fergus Roderick MacLeod, was a Scottish human who became a powerful crossroads demon and eventually the King of Hell. Initially a cunning antagonist, his character evolved into a complex anti-hero who frequently formed unstable alliances with the Winchesters to serve his own agenda. He rose to power after the other demons fell into disarray following Lucifer's release and died to seal Lucifer in an alternate reality.
