An archaeologist since the tender age of 8, Nico Robin gains the power of the Paramecia-type Flower-Flower Fruit, allowing her to temporarily copy parts of her body - including eyes and ears - which spring up on surfaces nearby. She acquires outlawed knowledge of translating the Poneglyph stones scattered around the world. Before she can achieve her goal of finding the Real Poneglyph, the World Government finds out and sends a battlefleet to thwart them. The population of her home island Ohara is wiped out, and Robin is labelled a 'Devil Child' with a bounty on her head. On the run, eventually she joins forces with the Straw Hat Pirates.
